Uvetis
Description Uveitis is inflammation of the uvea, in which the vascular layer of the eye sandwiched between the retina and the whites of the eyes (sclera). Uvea extends toward the front of the eye and consists of the iris, choroid layer and ciliary body. The most common type of uveitis is an inflammation of the iris called iritis (anterior uveitis).Uveitis is most common in people aged 20-50. This can have serious repercussions that causes permanent vision loss.Symptoms The signs, symptoms and characteristics of uveitis include:* Red eyes* Eye pain* Light sensitivity* Blurred vision* Impairment of visionTreatment The goal of treatment is to reduce inflammation in the eye. Treatment of uveitis include: anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics or antiviral drugs, immunosuppressive or cytotoxic drugs, and surgery.
