Pet Allergy
Description Pet allergy occurs when the immune system reacts to a particular protein. This reaction triggers inflammation in the lining of the nose, causing sneezing, runny nose, and the signs and other symptoms usually associated with hay fever.For some people, pets may be a major cause of allergic inflammation and contraction of the lung airways (asthma), resulting in wheezing, shortness of breath and other breathing difficulties.Furry animal that can be a source of allergies include cats, dogs, rats and horses. Although pets are allergic to “domestic problems,” could also affect people who work with animals on the farm, laboratory or in zoos.Pets allergic reactions such as a case of mistaken identification by the immune system.Normally, the immune system produces antibodies to protect the body against bacteria, viruses or poisonous substances. In other words, the immune system mistakenly identifies this protein as something that can be dangerous. Once the body develops antibodies to the allergen specific agent (allergen) – in this case, an animal protein – immune system will be sensitive to that. When inhaled or come in contact with that allergen, the immune system responds and produces an inflammatory response in the nose or lungs.Symptom Pet allergy symptoms include:* Sneeze* Colds* Itchy, red or watery eyes* Nose* Itchy nose, palate or throat* Cough* Often awakened* Eye swellingIf the pet causes of asthma, symptoms will appear:* Shortness of breath* Chest pain or shortness of* Wheezing sound when exhaling* Difficulty sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing* Coughing or wheezing attacks are exacerbated by respiratory viruses such as colds or fluTreatment Treatment efforts to control allergies is to avoid pets. When patients reduce meet our pets, the reaction will be reduced. However, it is often difficult or impossible to completely eliminate your exposure to animal allergens.
